COURSE CORRECTION

I’m starting off the year already feeling behind because I haven’t ordered all of our seeds yet, normally I have most of them in my hands by now.

Despite this, I feel more positive about vegetable growing this year because I have a cunning plan! Yes folks, my brain has been whirring and in 2023, more than ever before, I want to channel all of my efforts growing stuff into maximum outputs used to feed us.

Chris and I are getting better at it, in 2022 we used more homegrown produce than previous years. From tomato sauces to squash lasagne, the range of meals from our crops has expanded.

In 2023 our focus is on eking out every vegetable, fruit and herb. We’ve become very good at using fresh edibles for immediate eating, such as salads and the meal that night. This year we want to work harder at storing food, such as freezing things and pickling them, which we don’t do enough of.

On the engine room front, I plan to disregard the more gimmicky or experimental crops to conce…
