Below I’ve listed a few easy and tough plant combinations from our garden blending wildflowers with exotic plants. I’m based in the middle of the UK, so these wildflowers are for European readers, if you live in other regions, there will be alternative local species you can try.
1) Anthriscus sylvestris with Aquilegia vulgaris ‘Black Barlow’
Forget Chelsea Flower Show, I’ve found my favourite plant combination of the year: cow parsley and Aquilegia vulgaris ‘Black Barlow’.
Together, the dark purple of the aquilegia and frothy white of Anthriscus sylvestris create the plant chic I love. Perfectly matched in height and airiness. And guess what, they both self seed freely giving me lots of more of this in future years.
