An impressive display of Jack-by-the-hedge in Todmorden, West Yorkshire

A wildflower that’s been growing on me in recent years is Jack-by-the-hedge, also known as garlic mustard or its botanical name Alliaria petiolata.

The plant has a wide native range from Europe (including the UK) all the way to central Asia, down to north west Africa. Which tells us Alliaria petiolata is tolerant of a wide range of conditions. Though it’s a problematic introduction in North America where it should be avoided.

Need to know information about Alliaria petiolata
