Something is happening in the garden this week, with a significant upshift in temperature. From freezing a couple of weeks ago, we’re sitting steady between 5 - 10C and when the sun shines, it warms my face and hands. Warming the plants too, causing snowdrop buds that were waiting for this moment to burst open releasing their honey scent.

Flowering stems of crocus and miniature daffodils race out the ground at an astonishing speed. In as little as 24-48 hours their leaves have been joined by brightly coloured flowers rocketing from the corm or bulb with a year of pent up energy.
