Furniture will make or break a garden design. Get it right and furniture enhances the planting, acting as an anchor and focal point. Get it wrong, and it can set the wrong tone and ruin the garden. Like it or not, furniture is a sculpture as well as a functional thing to sit, dine, work or lay down on.

Unfortunately the UK has the most limited selection of garden furniture compared to mainland Europe, USA and other large continents. To make things worse, current wars, Brexit import fees, tariffs and increases in oil and gas have caused the cost of furniture to sky rocket (or the quality of products to decline).

It remains hard to know where to turn, so in this lesson I want to discuss some of the more sustainable options I’ve been using in recent years.
