Some of my favourite and trusted French beans (Phaseolus vulgaris) to grow, for fresh greens and storing

There’s something about the feel of large bean seeds in the hand, it’s not only the size, it’s the texture and the promise of what’s to come. Vigorous and sure to grow, with few issues beans are a fun starter vegetable for everyone to try, giving you a strong chance of an often high yielding crop for no hassle.

Many are gorgeous too, both the beans which can be stored in glass jars for display and the plants, are among the more beautiful of edible crops on the plot. In this article, I concentrate on the warm season French bean, or Phaseolus vulgaris.

French beans are available as both short knee heigh plants that don’t need support as well as tall twinning plants that grow up head height structures.
