The best garden writing is about sharing how a garden moves and connects us, so love to read these thoughts and ramblings, especially on a misty, slow Sunday
Please do continue to ramble. A Substack inbox that is only a collection of practical things to do just becomes a giant 'to do' list, which is not very nurturing for the soul.
I'm with you on the French media. I listen to France Info and various Radio France podcasts for news as well as to keep up my French, as they give a much more balanced view, and critically, a much wider view. I first realised the insularity of British media when I spent a year in France as part of my degree, and discovered through their news that other parts of the world existed beyond those of narrow British interest and viewpoints. So much for 'global Britain'....
The garden is gorgeous and this resonates so much: "I guess I grow our garden to catch the seasons, to celebrate the way that constant change makes me feel more myself."
Beautiful writing, beautiful garden, lovely photos! Posts like these are as welcome as the practical ones! A reminder of why we garden in the first place.
beautiful photos, I feel inspired to use one or two of you lovely photos for my sketchbook and possibly a painting, hope that's okay? I completely share the joy and quiet peacefulness and satisfaction of the garden through the seasons. I take many photos when the light catches my seedheads and grasses or the mist or frost creates an irresistible atmosphere, there is a sense of presence this time of year that is balm to the soul. In the Spring there is a liveliness, freshness and excitement of new growth. I love to hear your thoughts and ponderings about your wonderful creation so keep going please!
What an evocative post. I’m drinking coffee & walking with you, eager to get out to our community garden & then to my herb gardens at the allotments. Please do share this type of writing, we need it

Just loved this. Can feel the deep connection between you and your garden. Also have a Siamese cat who uses me as a hot water bottle.
