Congratulations to you both! And may the weather stay mild enough for outdoor garden experiences.

Thank you Liz :) it looks like a good few dry days... then hopefully the warmth will be back soon!

This is what I read SubStack for! Thank you for writing down deeper to the roots of your garden. We go crazy for the blossoms but know that layers of rich soil make them possible.

Thanks Jack, sometimes I find the newsletter format a bit restrictive creatively as I worry about sending stuff outside the normal garden how tos

Thankyou Jack for you honest and open share of your feelings for your husband and how intertwined these ae with your garden and nature. so good to have positive and loving shares in these dark days of horror unfolding in the world. Those of us who love nature and each other are blessed to be able to focus on what makes us whole and I admire your efforts to nurture what is important and beautiful in your work and life.

Thank you Penny - you are right, it is good to focus on the things that make us whole, especially in the face of what's happening around the world right now, from war to the rapid destruction of nature.

Thankyou Jack... another heartfelt, lovely read that warms the heart and gently steers one to reflect on beauty, nature and love.

Thank you Karen, yes you are right, like you this topic has sent my mind in other directions as well. What gardens and being outside mean to us and people.

How fortunate you are to have found each other and for your relationship to feel as fresh and exciting as it did two decades ago!

You’ve made me quite emotional as I contemplate how fortunate I was too ❤️

Thanks, yes we are fortunate to have found each other, I feel very lucky to have met Chris. It's funny looking back out of the thousands of people we meet, sometimes just one stands out for something closer.

Love that you stepped outside of the start ahead garden writing. The connection to the spring sexual explosion is often missing as we write about nature and I loved how this link took us to who you are within your garden and your relationship. Thanks for writing.

Jack Wallington's avatar

It was quite a big detour I took 😄 thanks for coming along on it with me. It is quite interesting to think of nature’s sexual explosion - all done with some urgency to reproduce. We don’t think of it in that way very often but it is what’s happening.
