I really enjoy your posts, thank you! Looking forward to following your patio progress. I planted 30 Thalia daffodils last autumn and more than half have been chomped by slugs before they even breached the soil! I was very surprised and took me ages to figure out what was going on. I have just dug them up and stuck them in a pot in the hopes of saving the bulbs for next year

Thanks Aine ☺️ it has been a very wet mild winter, so slugs are more active than normal. It might be worth leaving a few in the ground to see how they do over the years. Like all plants even bulbs get stronger with time and age.

That's true, there does seem to be a lot of slug activity. I've left all of the intact bulbs in the ground, and I'm hoping that the chomped ones will have a chance regrowing their leaves in the pot away from the slugs to regain some strength, and then I will leave them back in the ground next year to face their fate
