Very interesting. We started yellow rattle off in our community orchard last year (and have a scything routine and a newly trained scyther) and it’s going very well, the yellow rattle sowings have taken, flowered and we should get a good crop of seed to extend the plants further into the trees.
I’ve not come across Eyebright before (although the name does feel familiar) so I might suggest we get some of that started too. Thank you!
Sounds like a fantastic start well done. You don't need eyebright but it would probably be a good partner with the yellow rattle. One idea is to find a local nature reserve or know good meadow and take a look if it has eyebright. If it does, it's probably worth adding as appropriate to your area. The owner might be happy to share some the seeds with you if you contact them.
I was eyeing that you can order 1,000 seeds for £1.99 online! But yes, local would be so much better on lots of levels, our yellow rattle comes from the village. I have contacts… :)
