I love these - had them many times on trips to Madeira (cheaper outside the city, of course). One seller said he knew a man in London that got his to fruit! Come on who are you??
Due to the climate lots of things we think of as houseplants grow huge there. I saw a poinsettia tree in flower. those sad pot plants are a far cry from that! Also saw a wall (!) of begonias.
It has that kinda sweets flavour lots of these novelty fruits have, if you know what I mean - sort of like bubblegum. Not sure I’m making it sound any better…
I have one that has just starting to bear fruit, planted outside in the garden in Maitland NSW, Australia.
That’s exciting, it’s a weird fruit, great to have it in your garden!
I have heard that it can take 12-24 months to flower/ripen is that correct?
This reminds me that I've eaten one of these before, but I have no memory of where! Maybe Florida?
It’s likely, anywhere subtropical where growing conditions stay above zero

Possibly in a greenhouse somewhere - I bet the ones in the Barbican fruit
Pineapple AND banana...I'm curious but sceptical that's a good combination!

bubblegum really is a common ingredient! Sometimes a good thing, sometimes less so
Fascinating!
I was really excited to finally try one I should add 😄
I would have been, too. Your description is the next best thing.
Not sure how long it will take to flower and fruit, I have read that it can take up too 12-24 months is that correct?
